$810 Donated to ALS Research and Advocacy
By Selena Castro | July 15, 2026
Beginning in Q2 of 2026, every quarter I will be publishing a full breakdown of where Altru's donations go, because I don't really like those vague "we give back" statements. Here you'll find the actual numbers, the actual organizations, and exactly which products drove each donation.
Because if you've purchased from me in the past three months, you deserve to know your dollars have done real work!
Here's the Q2 2026 report.
The Numbers
ALS TDI — $210
The ALS Therapy Development Institute is one of the world's leading ALS research organizations, focused exclusively on developing treatments and a cure. This donation came from 15% of net sales across all orders, plus sales of Steph's Sunshine Necklace and the Sara Bennett Deer Necklace.
Bridging Voice — $480
Bridging Voice supports communication access for people living with ALS and other conditions that affect speech. This was Altru's largest single donation of the quarter, driven by sales of the Brooke Eby F*ck ALS Necklace and the High Octane Lightning Bolt Necklace. Brooke's community continues to show up, and proves what a dynamic voice she has in this fight against ALS.
Her ALS Story — $60
Her ALS Story was founded by Leah Stavenhagen to amplify the voices of women living with ALS. Leah passed away earlier this year, before we were able to start a collaboration we had chatted about. This donation is from sales of the Leah Stavenhagen Necklace, Atiliana's Butterfly Necklace, and the Sunny Strong Sunflower Necklace.
I Am ALS — $40
I Am ALS is a patient-led movement co-founded by Brian and Sandra Wallach that has helped change federal ALS funding law and won immediate Social Security access for ALS patients. This donation came from sales of the Jenny Slatten Necklace — a recent collaboration with Jenny's family, made in her honor.
Adaptive Impact — $25
Adaptive Impact works to improve quality of life and independence for people living with disabilities, including ALS. This donation came from sales of Erin's Monstera Necklace.
Total Donated in Q2 2026: $810
If you purchased from Altru between April and June 2026 — thank you! That $810 is yours as much as it is mine.
Why I Publish These Reports
I started Altru Jewelry after losing my dad, Juan Manuel Castro, to ALS. He was diagnosed when I was 32 and passed 19 months later. The mission of this brand is to give back to the organizations fighting for a cure and supporting those living with ALS in his memory.
Publishing quarterly donation reports is my way of staying accountable to that mission and to you. Anyone can say they give back, but it's important to me to show you the receipts.
ALS still has no cure. But the research is moving faster than it ever has, and organizations like the ones listed above are a huge part of why. Every purchase from Altru Jewelry goes directly toward funding that work.
