Hey, I’m Selena, your go-to jewelry maker for compassionate babes.
I’ve always known I was an artist. What can I say? I spent more time at the craft table than the playground as a kid. Though my formal education involved getting a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts, I’ve been drawing, painting, and making things ever since I was a little girl.
I was hustling jewelry at a young age.
It was junior high when I got really into bead work. My mom, being the crafty person she was, made me a cute little wooden box to showcase all of my bead jewelry, which I then took to school to sell. Not to brag, but I did sell out my work.
Unfortunately, an encounter with theft is enough to stifle the entrepreneurial spirit of any 8th grader for a while (I know it was you, Jessica)!
I lost my dad to ALS in 2019, so when I returned to making jewelry in 2020, I knew I wanted to honor his memory in some way.
Plus, I know my dad would love to see me still pursuing art, creativity, and making things. Altru is a way for me to both honor my inner artist, as well as play a part in finding the cure for ALS. That’s why I’ve created a specific collection to bring awareness to the ALS cause, and donate 15% of all Altru proceeds to ALS research.
